To celebrate Barmoor's centenary and take it forward for another 100 years the Trustees plan to convert the garage to a useful space,
improve the entrance area and upgrade the heating so the house can be used more fully.
There is no indoor room where an entire group can easily gather for activities. Lack of appropriate space within the house means
that many groups move furniture around, adding to wear and tear. A useful multi-purpose room in the garage will provide valuable
space for groups to meet, reduce pressure on the fabric of the house and preserve the garage building.
There would be potential for the garage to be hired independently of the house.
The main entrance used by visitors is actually the 'back door' in the original 1908 design; for present day use by large parties it is cramped and unwelcoming. There is a little used outside WC and coal shed, and the boiler only gives background heat to the first floor landing.
The new entrance will provide an accessible toilet and wet room, a drying area and storage for boots and coats.
A new boiler will make it possible to offer the house to groups throughout the whole year
